PRESEC Slams Serwaa Amihere Over ‘Breeding Ground for Homosexuals’ Claim
School Rejects Allegation, Says Comment Is False and Reckless
Management of the Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, has strongly condemned comments allegedly made by lawyer and media personality Serwaa Amihere, in which the school was described as a “breeding ground for homosexuals.”
In a press release dated January 17, 2026, PRESEC described the statement as false, reckless, and deeply offensive, saying it unfairly attacks students and damages the image of one of Ghana’s most respected senior high schools.
PRESEC Rejects Allegation
According to the school’s management, the claim is a gross misrepresentation of PRESEC’s identity, values, and mission.
“Management unequivocally condemns this statement. It is false, reckless, and deeply offensive,” the release stated.
PRESEC explained that it is a Presbyterian mission school, founded over 80 years ago and governed by strong Christian principles, discipline, and moral training in line with the teachings of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the laws of the Republic.

School Emphasises Christian Values and Discipline
The school stressed that it does not promote or tolerate behaviour that goes against its moral and religious values.
“For over eight decades, PRESEC has been dedicated to academic excellence, discipline, leadership, and character development,” management noted.
PRESEC added that its consistent success, including multiple victories at the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), reflects a culture built on teamwork, hard work, and responsible leadership—not the claims being circulated.
Concerns Over Harm to Students
Management warned that such comments are not just inaccurate but also harmful, as they expose students to ridicule, prejudice, and emotional distress.
The school said it would not accept or normalise statements that stigmatise students or tarnish the reputation of an institution that has contributed greatly to national development.
Context of National LGBTQI Debate
The statement comes amid heightened national discussions on LGBTQI issues in Ghana, especially within schools and religious institutions.
Same-sex sexual activity remains criminalised under Ghanaian law, and public debate has intensified following reports of an alleged teacher training manual said to touch on sexual orientation and gender identity.
The Ministry of Education and GES have since clarified that the material is not an approved policy or curriculum.
PRESEC Reaffirms Its Mission
• Discipline
• Moral upbringing
• Academic excellence
• Training responsible future leaders
Management assured stakeholders that PRESEC will remain steadfast in its values despite the ongoing public controversy.
