The Ghana Police Service has arrested social media personality Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, after a viral video showed him physically assaulting a woman.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on January 15 on the Police Serviceโ€™s official Facebook page.

Arrest Made Through Intelligence-Led Operation

According to the Police, Ekow Black was arrested following an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Inspector-General of Policeโ€™s Special Cyber Vetting Team, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

โ€œThe Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect captured in a viral video physically assaulting a woman,โ€ the statement said.

Police Reveal Background of the Incident

Preliminary investigations indicate that Ekow Black and the woman previously lived together and had a history of disputes.

Police say the disagreements reportedly escalated into verbal and physical confrontations, leading to the assault seen in the video circulating online.

Public Condemns Assault, Demands Justice

The incident has sparked public outrage, with many Ghanaians condemning the act and calling for swift justice.

Social media users have also renewed calls for stronger action against domestic and gender-based violence, especially when it involves public figures and influencers.

Suspect in Custody, Court Action Expected

The Police confirmed that Ekow Black is currently in lawful custody and will soon be put before court to face charges.

The statement further stressed that the Police maintain a zero-tolerance stance on violence, regardless of a personโ€™s social status or popularity.

Police Reaffirm Commitment to Justice

โ€œThe Ghana Police Service reassures the public of its commitment to protecting lives, upholding the law, and dealing decisively with acts of violence,โ€ the statement concluded.

Investigations are ongoing as the case prepares to move to court.
