Several top clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool, were linked with the Ghana international.
However, Manchester City moved fastest to secure the deal. Liverpool were interested but never submitted a formal offer.

Boost for Title Race
City are currently locked in a tight Premier League title race with Arsenal, who sit six points clear at the top of the table.
Guardiola’s men have drawn their last three league games against Brighton, Chelsea, and Sunderland, losing ground in the title chase.
The arrival of Semenyo is expected to add pace, power, and creativity to City’s attack as they push to close the gap on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Semenyo Takes Iconic Shirt Number
The Ghanaian winger has been handed the No. 42 shirt, a number previously worn at the Etihad Stadium by club legend Yaya Touré.
Semenyo arrives in high spirits after scoring a dramatic 95th-minute winner against Tottenham Hotspur in his final appearance for Bournemouth on January 7.
Praise for Pep Guardiola
Speaking after completing the move, Semenyo expressed his excitement and praised Pep Guardiola, describing the transfer as a dream opportunity to work under one of the world’s best managers.
