GAF Denies Claims 60% of Military Recruits Are HIV Positive
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has strongly denied reports suggesting that about 60 per cent of applicants who underwent medical screening for military recruitment tested positive for HIV.
In a press release, GAF described the circulating claims as false and misleading, urging the public to completely disregard the publication.
GAF Says Medical Screening Is Still Ongoing
The statement, signed by Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, clarified that the medical screening process for applicants is still ongoing.
According to GAF, no results have been released or officially declared, contrary to claims circulating on social and online media.
“The medical process is ongoing and no results have been declared as at now,” the statement stressed.
Ghana Armed Forces Condemn Report as Fake News
The Armed Forces described the publication as fake news, adding that it has the potential to cause unnecessary panic, stigma, and misinformation among the public.
GAF further disclosed that steps are being taken to identify and trace the originators of the report, describing it as mischievous and irresponsible.

Warning Issued to Bloggers and Content Creators
The Ghana Armed Forces also used the opportunity to caution media practitioners, especially bloggers, vloggers, and online content creators, to uphold professional standards.
They urged media outlets to always verify information before publishing, particularly on sensitive issues such as health and national security.
“The Ghana Armed Forces once again urges media practitioners especially content creators and bloggers/vloggers to be circumspect and crosscheck their facts before going to press,” the statement added.
