The National Service Authority (NSA) has officially opened the online registration portal for nurses and midwives ahead of the 2026/2027 national service year, with the process set to close on Thursday, January 23, 2026.

In a statement issued on Monday, January 19, 2026, the Director General of the Authority, Ms Ruth Dela Seddoh, confirmed that Personal Identification Number (PIN) codes have been released for 6,867 eligible applicants who completed their training in 2025 and are required to undertake mandatory national service.

Who Is Eligible to Register

According to the NSA, eligible applicants include nurses and midwives who passed the March and April 2025 Licensing Examinations, commonly referred to as the “minor season”, conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of Ghana.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council submitted the official list of qualified personnel to the NSA on January 16, 2026, paving the way for the commencement of the enrollment process.

How to Register for National Service

Eligible applicants are required to complete the registration process within a four-day window. The steps include:

  • Paying a GH¢41.00 registration fee via Mobile Money on any network
  • Visiting the official NSA portal at https://gnsa.gov.gh/
  • Retrieving their PIN codes using their student ID number and date of birth
  • Completing the online enrollment form

Registration opened immediately after the announcement and will close on January 23, 2026.

Ms Seddoh urged all prospective service personnel to strictly adhere to the registration schedule, warning that failure to complete the process within the stipulated time could result in exclusion from this year’s deployment.

The Authority also reminded the public that under the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), national service is compulsory for all Ghanaian citizens aged 18 years and above who have completed accredited tertiary institutions, including Nursing Training Colleges.

Preparing for Deployment

The enrollment exercise forms part of broader preparations for the deployment of newly trained health professionals under Ghana’s one-year mandatory national service scheme, which supports public institutions across various sectors, particularly healthcare.
