The 9th edition of the All-African Music Awards (AFRIMA) was held in Lagos, Nigeria, celebrating the best of African music across the continent.

The 2026 AFRIMA Awards recognised artists from West, East, Central, Southern, and Northern Africa, rewarding not only commercial success but also creativity, innovation, and global impact.

The event brought together musicians, producers, industry leaders, and fans from across Africa and the diaspora.

Best Male Artiste – Central Africa

Winner: Singuila (The Congo)

Best Female Artiste – Central Africa

Winner: Cindy Le Coeur (DRC)

Best Male Artiste – Eastern Africa

Winner: Juma Jux (Tanzania)

Winner: Denise (Madagascar)

Best Male Artiste – Northern Africa

Nigerian Artists Dominate AFRIMA 2026

Nigerian musicians emerged as the biggest winners of the night.

Burna Boy won Album of the Year and shared Best African Collaboration with Shallipopi, who also claimed Song of the Year for Laho.

Rema was one of the standout stars, winning three awards, including:

  • Artiste of the Year
  • Best Male Artiste – Western Africa
  • Best African Artiste – RnB & Soul

Other Nigerian winners included:

  • Phyno – Best African Hip-Hop Artiste
  • Yemi Alade – Best Soundtrack for Iyanu

The strong showing by Nigerian artists highlights the global rise of Afrobeats, a genre that blends African rhythms with global sounds.
