Couple Who Shared Same Birthday Die on the Same Day

Tragedy Strikes Family in Murang’a County

A family in Ndakaini village, Gatanga, in Murang’a County, Kenya, is mourning the painful loss of a man and his wife who died on the same day.

The deceased have been identified as Sammy Jonnes Ndichu and his wife, Nina Wambui Ndichu.

Couple Died in Road Accident

Reports indicate that the couple lost their lives in a road accident on Thursday, December 12, 2025, along the Maai Mahiu–Naivasha highway.

The sad news was confirmed in a Facebook post by The Architects Alliance, an association Sammy belonged to.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of one of our members, Arch. Sammy Jonnes Ndichu Mwangi… who passed on 12/12/25 alongside his loving wife, Nina Ann Wambui,” the statement read.

Memorial and Burial Details

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, December 17, at PCEA Mt. Olives Church in Njathaini, attended by family, friends, and colleagues.

Later that evening, a candlelight vigil was held at their home in Kiambu.

The couple was finally laid to rest on Friday, December 19, at their family home in Ndakaini village.

A Heartbreaking Coincidence

As tributes poured in online, it emerged that Sammy and Nina shared several emotional coincidences.

Sammy was born on April 23, 1993 Nina was born on April 23, 1995

They shared the same birthday, died on the same day, and were buried on the same date.

The couple is survived by their four-year-old son.
