Black Sherif Faces Court Over Rent Unpaid Since August 2024
Court clarifies GH¢229,500 is a claim, not a judgment against the musician

Court Summons Black Sherif Over Rent Case
Award-winning Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has been asked to appear before the Adentan District Court on March 3, 2026, following a rent dispute involving a property at Adjiriganor, Accra.
Court documents sighted by Info Busy show that the case was filed by Dr. Evelyn Esi Awittor, who claims that rent has not been paid since August 2024.
GH¢229,500 Is a Claim, Not a Court Order
Contrary to widespread reports on social media, the court has not ordered Black Sherif to pay GH¢229,500.
According to official court records, the amount represents a claim being sought by the plaintiff, not a judgment or ruling by the court. The case is still at a preliminary stage, and no final decision has been made.

Why Court Documents Were Pasted on the Property
Because Black Sherif could not be personally served with court papers, the court approved substituted service. This allowed legal documents to be posted at the court premises and at House No. 4, Recreational Close, NTHC Estate, Adjiriganor.
This step was taken strictly to notify the defendant and does not imply guilt or wrongdoing.
Property Not Black Sherif’s Personal Residence
Reliable sources confirm that the Adjiriganor property is not Black Sherif’s personal home.
The premises are used as office space and studios for the Road Boys Association (RBA), his creative collective and record label. Describing the property as his residence is therefore misleading.
Property Under Separate Legal Attachment
Court filings further reveal that the property has been under attachment by the Accra High Court since February 2024, due to separate legal matters unrelated to Black Sherif or the tenancy agreement.
This means the legal status of the property is complex and predates the current rent dispute.

Case Yet to Be Heard
The court has not ordered any payment, and the substantive issues of the case have not yet been argued.
Both parties are expected to appear in court on March 3, 2026, when the matter will be properly heard and determined.
