Massive Fire Destroys Over 100 Vehicles at Sofoline
Blaze guts mechanic shops in Ashanti Region, no casualties
A massive fire outbreak has destroyed a cluster of mechanic shops at Sofoline in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, leaving more than 100 vehicles burnt alongside several workshops and equipment.
The fire broke out around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, and spread rapidly through the area, consuming mechanic sheds, engines, spare parts, and large quantities of upholstery materials. Many artisans and shop owners have been left counting heavy losses, with their livelihoods severely affected.
Firefighters Battle Flames for Hours
Eyewitnesses said personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) arrived shortly after the fire started. However, by the time they got to the scene, the flames had already intensified.
Firefighters battled the inferno for several hours and eventually managed to contain it, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings and facilities.

Cause of Fire Yet to Be Established
Although the exact cause of the fire has not been officially confirmed, some affected artisans believe the blaze may have been triggered by refuse burning in the area.
