The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has confirmed the arrest of Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Conduah over alleged offences involving a minor.
According to the minister, the suspect was arrested on March 6, 2026, during a joint operation carried out by the Cyber Security Authority and the Ghana Police Service.
The suspect, who reportedly presented himself publicly as a radio-based international marriage counsellor, is currently facing allegations linked to child sexual abuse material.
Arrest followed cyber investigation
Authorities say the arrest came after investigators from the Cyber Security Authority uncovered evidence during an investigation into suspected online sexual exploitation involving a minor.
According to preliminary findings, the alleged abuse involved a 17-year-old girl and may have occurred over a period of approximately four years.
Investigators reportedly discovered recordings and online posts connected to international pornographic websites during the course of the probe.
Charges under Cybersecurity Act
In a statement shared on social media, Samuel Nartey George explained that the suspect is facing offences relating to child sexual abuse material under the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038).
He noted that the arrest was carried out in the early hours of March 6 as Ghana was preparing to mark the Ghana Independence Day.
“In the early hours of 6th March, as the nation prepared to celebrate our 69th Independence Day, the hardworking team at the Cyber Security Authority Ghana effected the arrest of one Rev Dr Ebenezer Conduah in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service,” the minister wrote.
Suspect remanded into custody
Following his arrest, Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Conduah was arraigned before a court and has been remanded into custody for three weeks to allow investigators to continue their work.
Authorities say the ongoing investigation will seek to determine the full extent of the alleged offences and identify any possible additional victims or collaborators.
