Four Burnt Beyond Recognition in Nsawam–Accra Highway Fire Crash

The Nsawam–Accra Highway fire crash has claimed the lives of four people who were burnt beyond recognition following a tragic road traffic accident near Okanta, close to the Signboard area, in the early hours of Saturday.

Accident Occurred at Dawn

According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred around dawn on Saturday along the Nsawam–Accra N6 Highway and resulted in a massive fire on the highway.

The crash reportedly involved a fuel (petrol) tanker, a VVIP bus, and three other vehicles, all of which burst into flames upon impact.

Firefighters Respond

Firefighters from the Suhum and Bunso Fire Stations responded to the emergency at approximately 4:49 am, according to the Ghana National Fire Service.

Casualties and Damage

Initial reports from fire officials indicated that:

• Four people were burnt beyond recognition

• Several vehicles were completely destroyed by fire

• At least seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries

All injured persons were reportedly rescued and handed over to medical authorities for treatment.

Investigations Ongoing

Authorities are expected to begin investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash. Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted as emergency teams worked to clear the scene.
