Unity Calls After Concessions
Earlier in the evening, both Kennedy Agyapong and Dr Bryan Acheampong publicly conceded defeat, congratulating Dr Bawumia and calling for unity within the party as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
Party officials, Electoral Commission representatives, security agencies, and civil society observers described the process as largely peaceful, transparent, and orderly.
Looking Ahead to 2028
Dr Bawumia’s victory reinforces his strong influence within the NPP and positions him to lead the party’s bid to return to power following its 2024 electoral defeat.
He has previously served as the party’s running mate in four elections and was the NPP’s presidential candidate in the 2024 general elections.
Dr Bawumia is expected to deliver his official acceptance speech later tonight at the party’s national headquarters in Accra.
