Pastor Brutally Killed in Kaduna Community
An ECWA pastor, Dio Idon, has been brutally killed by a mob in Kasuwan Magani, Kaduna State, Nigeria, after he was accused of witchcraft.
The incident happened on Sunday, January 4, 2026, according to a statement released by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Theological Seminary, Kagoro.
Mob Attack Follows Brother’s Death
Reports indicate that violence broke out shortly after the death of the pastor’s brother, who had reportedly been ill for some time.
Members of the community allegedly blamed Pastor Idon for the death, accusing him of witchcraft. The mob then attacked him, killed him, and set his body on fire.

Seminary Confirms Identity of Victim
The ECWA Theological Seminary confirmed that Pastor Dio Idon was a former student of the institution and was serving as the pastor of ECWA Ungwa Shaawa LC, Kasuwan Magani DCC at the time of his death.
In a strongly worded statement, the seminary described the killing as tragic and barbaric.
Seminary Calls for Prayers and Change
“We received with sadness the news that our student, Pastor Dio Idon, was massacred by a mob following witchcraft accusations,” the statement said.
The institution urged Christians to pray for the family of the late pastor and also for the spiritual transformation of those responsible for the killing.
